I have been deeply committed and passionate about women's bodies since I was a teenager. The innate power and wisdom of this incredible vessel has always fascinated me. I was a involved in body image work and facilitating groups for teen girls starting at 16 years old. I always wanted to be of service to women, always searching for ways to support, witness and empower women and girls. I witnessed my first birth when I was twenty three years old. I saw how amazing, magical and powerful women's bodies are at the most primal level. And I saw how having a supported and empowering birth can change a woman's life and change the way she sees herself. When a woman has the support she needs during labor and birth, she is less afraid, is able to trust herself and her bodies ability to be the powerful vessel it is!
After my own experience of giving birth to my two children, I realized that this experience can shape so much of a woman's experience, of being a mother and a woman. I had an incredible birth team and felt so held and supported and lifted up by their presence! When a woman has the support she needs during labor and birth, she is less afraid, is able to trust herself and her bodies ability to be the powerful vessel it is! I love offering this support for a woman and her family, am passionate about helping to empower the mother and her partner to ask for what they need and want, to surrender to the incredible birth experience and help them to know that they can do it!
When I started doing postpartum work, it was amazing how natural and at home I felt in this environment. I have always felt that it really does take a village, that when the mama is able to rest, take care of herself and her own needs, she is able to give more fully to her new baby. I love being a Postpartum Doula, it fills me up and by nurturing the new family, it nurtures me as well.
